Microsoft heeft een grote sponsordeal gesloten met de Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Hierdoor wordt de Xbox de officiële console van het FIFA Wereld Kampioenschap 2006.

"You're going to see a large amount of World Cup and FIFA-related promotions over the next few years" had Peter Moore, vice president van Microsoft, hierover te melden op de Tokyo Game Show.

Het FIFA Wereld Kampioenschap 2006 vind plaats in juni en juli 2006 in Duitsland.
