Kotick:"De muziekindustrie waardeert ons niet genoeg"
Niet heel verrassend is ook Robert Kotick, CEO van Guitar Hero uitgever Activision, het niet helemaal eens met Bronfman. Hij vind dat mensen als Bronfman de gamesindustrie niet genoeg waarderen. Bronfman zou zich moeten realiseren dat games als Guitar Hero nieuwe doelgroepen hebben aangeboord waar de muziekindustrie van meeprofiteert. De vergelijking die Bronfman trok is een scheve, want met iTunes krijg je geen nieuwe klanten voor oude bands. Kotick zei dat zijn bedrijf in de toekomst dan ook vooral zal samenwerken met platenlabels die wel waardering voor de gamesindustrie hebben.
I think his view was...that Warner Music should be compensated the way they might for a performance on iTunes. But this is an entirely different business that is very technically complex. We're going to favour those publishers that recognise and appreciate how much we can add value to their artists.We're introducing a whole new group of artists to new audiences that is resulting in their iTunes downloads being exponentially higher than they would otherwise be, as well as new album sales and new merchandising opportunities.
