Playa!TraX is een programma dat in je system tray staat en daar lekker niks staat te doen. Het programma komt pas in actie als je een spel opstart. Als je bijvoorbeeld Half-Life 2 opstart, gaat Playa!TraX automatisch jouw Half-Life 2 playlist afspelen en laadt het de configuratie (die je zelf definieert) die het mogelijk maakt om de muziek te besturen met bijvoorbeeld je toetsenbord of gamepad. Je hoeft dus niet terug te keren naar het venster van de speler. En als je switcht naar een ander spel, Madden NFL Football bijvoorbeeld, start Playa!TraX meteen de Madden playlist. Het programma werkt ook gewoon met je browser of elk ander programma.
