Bèta Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft niet ver weg
Blizzard Entertainments free-to-play Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft is geen maanden meer verwijderd van de bèta. De verwachting is dat de bèta nog deze zomer zal starten.
Hearthstone production director Jason Cheyes schrijft op de officiële website het volgende: "Our overall focus has shifted onto fixing bugs and improving our infrastructure so that it can support a larger number of players. We’re making good progress, and while we definitely won’t fix every bug before releasing the beta, we do think it’s important to address any issues that would pull focus away from the core game experience. What that means is that we’re not days away from launching the beta, but we’re not months away either."
Volgens Chayes zijn ondertussen alle features die gepland waren voor de bèta geïmplementeerd en is het verhelpen van bugs het belangrijkste werk geworden: “At the Hearthstone announcement we committed to going into beta testing before the summer was over, and the team has been pulling out all the stops to make that happen.”
De bèta zal eerst in Noord-Amerika van start gaan, maar aparte en gelocaliseerde builds voor Europa, Korea en Taiwan zullen snel volgen. Eerst zullen er kleine hoeveelheden uitnodigingen worden verstuurd, maar uiteindelijk zal iedereen sowieso de open bèta kunnen spelen.
Hoewel de focus nu dus ligt op het uitbrengen van de bèta voor Windows en Mac, betekent dit niet dat de iPad-versie verwaarloosd wordt. "In fact, the team hit an awesome milestone with our iPad development not too long ago with our first end-to-end test of cross-platform play", aldus de production director.
Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft werd in maart aangekondigd bij PAX East en Blizzard heeft beloofd dat het kaartspel in 2013 gereleased zal worden. Opgeven voor de bèta kan hier.
