Resident Evil 3DS mini-update
In een interview met het magazine Nintendo Power heeft Capcom via Masachika Kawata wat meer info vrijgegeven over de twee aanstaande Resident Evil-games voor Nintendo 3DS; Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D en Resident Evil: Revelations.
De twee games hebben allebei een andere focus. Mercenaries zal gericht zijn op pure schietactie waar Revelations teruggrijpt naar de oorsprong van Resident Evil: survival-horror. Capcom ziet Revelations daarom ook als een echte opvolger van Resident Evil 5:
"Unlike Mercenaries, which is all about shooting action, Revelations is all about survival horror, the very genre Resident Evil established. We actually think of Revelations as a direct sequel to Resident Evil 5 and it will be full of new, innovative ideas and characters"
Bij Capcom hopen ze verder dat Mercenaries een succesvolle spin-off franchise kan worden welke in de toekomst extra content kan krijgen via DLC. Hierover zijn ze nog niet in gesprek met Nintendo:
"Should the Mercenaries establish itself as a franchise as we hope, we’ll be looking into expanding the game through DLC, though of course we’d have to consult Nintendo regarding the specifics"
