Waarom Bobby Kotick in een film speelt
Bobby Kotick, CEO van Activision Blizzard, is misschien wel de meest gehate man in de gamesindustrie. Ondanks dat is hij erg goed in zijn werk, want zijn bedrijf is de grootste gamesuitgever ooit. Zo goed, dat hij zelfs overtuigend de rol van teameigenaar speelt in de film Moneyball, met onder andere Brad Pitt. Maar hoe is dit balletje gaan rollen?
Kennelijk kent Kotick de regisseur van de film, Bennett Miller. Kotick heeft Reuters verteld hoe de vork in de steel zit:
“We were having dinner and Bennett was talking about Moneyball and he asked me a little bit about an owner’s psychology and what an owner would be like. I started reading the script and I said, I really think the words don’t capture how an owner would react to this part of the conversation. I also loved Michael Lewis’ book Moneyball . We were having this back and forth and Bennett said ‘why don’t you do it? It would make the role very authentic.’ And I said, ‘I will, but only if you made my Call of Duty endowment movie.’”
Kotick, immer de zakenman, wist hier natuurlijk een slaatje uit te slaan. De Call of Duty Endowment is een non-profitorganisatie die veteranen helpt te herintegreren in de samenleving. Volgens Kotick blijft het bij dit kleine rolletje: "I don't get a credit and you'll never see me acting again."
