Grand Theft Auto populairste iPad-app

Het actiespel Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is vorige week het meest verkocht van alle apps voor de iPad. Ook de iPhone-versie doet het met een derde plaats goed. Dat blijkt uit gegevens van Apple. Het is de derde game in de reeks die beschikbaar is op apparaten van Apple, na Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars en Grand Theft Auto 3.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City heeft wel ferme concurrentie van het virtuele huisdier Pou en het puzzelspel Angry Birds: Star Wars. Pou was vorige week de succesvolste nieuwkomer en bereikte de eerste plek, terwijl verschillende versies van Angry Birds al drie jaar lang veel worden verkocht.

Binnen de Grand Theft Auto-reeks zijn 125 miljoen spellen verkocht. In maart wordt het volgende epos, Grand Theft Auto V, verwacht. Daarnaast is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, dat in 2004 voor de Playstation 2 verscheen, sinds woensdag te downloaden voor de Playstation 3.
