Sony maakt zich geen zorgen over Vita

Het is duidelijk geworden dat Sony zich weinig zorgen maakt over de tegenvallende verkoopcijfers van de PlayStation Vita. De cijfers begonnen redelijk goed maar daalden al snel. Eerder gaf Sony tijdens de E3 aan dat ze voorlopig geen prijsverlaging aan aankondigen. Volgens CEO Jim Ryan gaat nieuwe content de verkoopcijfers omhoog brengen.

"In Europe we're three months in - in Japan a little bit longer. I think that all history in the Japanese market indicates that it's real killer content that provides the stimulus to hardware sales - and that continues to be the case. There's a lot going on - a lot of very Japanese specific content that wouldn't really resonate with the Western world. We're very relaxed and confident about the prospects for Vita this year and beyond."

Volgens Ryan kunnen we binnenkort een hele reeks aan nieuwe content verwachten. Met games als FIFA, LittleBigPlanet, Call of Duty en Assassin's Creed zijn er genoeg games onderweg om de verkopen te zien stijgen. Ryan heeft vooral veel lof over voor Call of Duty's Vita-shooter Black Ops Declassified.

"It's fantastic that it's coming at Christmas time, and I think that it's going to provide a huge stimulus for the platform."
