Sony's motion controller komt in de herfst

Dit jaar zal de strijd volop losbarsten op motion controller gebied. Nadat Microsoft op de CES 2010 aangegeven heeft dat ze Natal rond de feestdagen aan het eind van 2010 in de winkels te hebben liggen, heeft Sony heeft nu namelijk bekendgemaakt dat hun controller in de herfst van 2010 te koop zal zijn in Japan en de rest van Azie, Noord-Amerika en Europa. De nieuwe controller waarvan de naam nog steeds niet definitief bekendgemaakt is zal direct ondersteund worden door een grote hoeveelheid games.

Kazuo Hirai, president en CEO van Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. gaf als informatie:

"We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users. We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from [Sony] Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with. We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expands and defines the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home."

De PS3-bezitters die toch niet zo lang willen wachten kunnen zo rond de zomer nog een andere concurrent verwachten, namelijk een motion controller van Komodo. De gelijkenis van de "3D Motion Freedom Remote" met de Wiimote is treffend. Komodo heeft aangegeven dat hun oplossing compatible zal zijn met alle huidige games.
