Von der Leyen vernederd door Erdogan: geen stoel voor haar bij topontmoeting
Europese Commissievoorzitter Ursula von der Leyen lijkt zich vernederd te voelen door de Turkse president Erdogan, die bij een topontmoeting dinsdag in Ankara voor haar geen stoel klaarzette. Brussel haalt momenteel alles uit de kast om te voorkomen dat zo’n pijnlijke situatie zich waar ook ter wereld ooit opnieuw voordoet. Zo meldt Tubantia.
Op sociale media krijgt behalve de Turkse president ook Europees president Charles Michel ervan langs, die volgens de veelbekeken videobeelden van de bijeenkomst vliegensvlug de ‘Europese’ stoel inpikte en Von der Leyen het nakijken liet.

The incident comes with Turkey under the spotlight over women's rights after withdrawing from the Istanbul Convention, an international treaty on preventing domestic violence.
