Miley Cyrus nuanceert kritiek op hiphop

Miley Cyrus voelde zich dit weekend genoodzaakt tot het geven van extra uitleg over haar kritiek die ze in een interview op hiphop uitte. Op die kritische uitlatingen kreeg ze afgelopen week veel kritiek van hiphopfans.

In het interview dat ze gaf aan Billboard zegt de zangeres, die volgende week haar nieuwe single Malibu uitbrengt, dat ze tegenwoordig minder geneigd is om hiphopmuziek te maken vanwege de seksistische teksten van rappers.

"Ik kan er niet meer naar luisteren. Ik ben daarom wat uit de scene gestapt. Het ging mij teveel over 'Kijk mij met mijn Lamborghini en mijn Rolex en een hete chick op mijn schoot'. Ik ben daar niet van", zei ze.

Sensationeel
Op Instagram komt ze terug op de opmerkingen. "Wie een artikel leest beseft zich vaak niet dat ik daarvoor uren heb gesproken met een journalist over mijn leven, mijn perspectief en de volgend stappen in mijn carrière. Slechts een deel van het interview komt uit op print en veel interviews zoomen in op het meest sensationele deel uit het gesprek. Laat me duidelijk zijn, ik respecteer alle muziekgenres, van country tot pop. Ik zal ook van hiphop blijven houden, ik heb immers met de beste mensen gewerkt."

Ze voegt eraan toe: "Op dit moment in mijn leven neig ik persoonlijk en muzikaal meer naar rap met meer niveau en bewustzijn. Nu ik wat ouder word, begrijp ik wat muziek voor de wereld betekent. Ik zie dat de jonge generatie vandaag de dag behoefte heeft aan het luisteren naar positieve, krachtige teksten."

 

When articles are read it isn't always considered that for hours I've spoken with a journalist about my life , where my heart is, my perspective at that time, and the next step in my career. Unfortunately only a portion of that interview makes it to print, & A lot of the time publications like to focus on the most sensationalized part of the conversation. So, to be clear I respect ALL artists who speak their truth and appreciate ALL genres of music (country , pop , alternative .... but in this particular interview I was asked about rap) I have always and will continue to love and celebrate hip hop as I've collaborated with some of the very best! At this point in my life I am expanding personally/musically and gravitating more towards uplifting, conscious rap! As I get older I understand the effect music has on the world & Seeing where we are today I feel the younger generation needs to hear positive powerful lyrics! I am proud to be an artist with out borders and thankful for the opportunity to explore so many different styles/ sounds! I hope my words (sung or spoken) always encourage others to LOVE.... Laugh.... Live fully.... to be there for one another... to unify, and to fight for what's right (human , animal , or environmental ) Sending peace to all!
