Mass Effect 4 zal rond 2015 uitkomen
Mike Gamble heeft in een interview aangegeven dat er volgend jaar meer informatie gaat uitkomen van Mass Effect 4. De planning is dat de game rond 2015 moet uitkomen. Gamble werkte eerder als producer aan Mass Effect 3. Gamble vertelt verder meer over multiplayer in Mass Effect 2 en geschrapte missies uit ME3.
Voorlopig krijgen we nog geen specifieke datum voor Mass Effect 4. Volgens Gamble is de productie zelfs pas een maand geleden begonnen. De planning is wel om volgend jaar al meer informatie te verschaffen over de game. Dit zal waarschijnlijk tijdens de E3 gaan gebeuren.
Daarnaast vertelt Gamble dat het team al een multiplayer-modus wilde bouwen voor Mass Effect 2. Uiteindelijk is die beslissing vervallen omdat het teveel werk zou zijn.
“We had actually wanted to do multiplayer in Mass Effect 2. We started working on it and found out that it was just going to be too much, so we had to take it out of Mass Effect 2. As far as the style it had, like I said we wanted it to be different from other games. It needed to have something that drew people into playing multiplayer over and over again. It had to be something that looked and felt like playing a mission in Mass Effect, except you had 3 other players from around the world with you.This style of multiplayer was something we wanted to do since Mass Effect 2. Regardless on how people felt about the ending of Mass Effect 3, alot of people still play multiplayer."
Verder gaat Gamble meer in op Mass Effect 3. Er is een missie geschrapt uit het spel waarbij we naar de Turian-planeet Palaven zouden gaan. Gamble gaf niet aan waarom deze missie geschrapt is. Wellicht dat deze wel terug komt in Mass Effect 4. Daarnaast zou het einde oorspronkelijk heel anders zijn. Shepard zou een gevecht aangaan met The Illusive Man. Bioware schrapte dat einde omdat het teveel zou lijken op wat andere games doen.
“One of the mission ideas that got scrapped was actually going onto Palaven, the Turian home world, and being able to see what their world was like. We also scrapped the original ending for Mass Effect 3. We were gonna have it as a “boss battle”, where Commander Shepard would go up and fight The Illusive Man who has been transformed by The Reapers. We scrapped that idea because way too many [games] have that as their ending, some final boss fight. Ultimately, we are proud of the finished products in the Mass Effect series and stand by them.”
De verwachting is dat het vierde deel uit de reeks uit zal komen op next-gen consoles. Een versie voor Wii U zal mogelijkerwijs ook uitkomen maar daar wilde gamble nog niet op ingaan.
