Blizzard ontkent bannen van Linux-gamers
Blizzard onkent dat zij spelers bannen voor het spelen van Diablo III op een pc die draait op het besturingsprogramma Linux. Onlangs verschenen er op het Diablo III-forum verschillende claims dat Linux-gebruikers geband zijn.
Blizzard legt nadruk op het feit dat de verbannen gebruikers niet geband zijn vanwege Linux, maar omdat zij valsgespeeld hebben in Diablo III. De spelers proberen nu door troubleshooting hun gelijk te krijgen. "Although our games are often playable on a lot of unsupported hardware and software configurations, these same setups will often block the system survey from completing its job.'' Dit kan ervoor zorgen dat het anti-cheat systeem Linux niet herkent en het als een hack ziet.
Blizzard gaf de volgende verklaring en ontkent dat het een probleem is: "We've extensively tested for false positive situations, including replicating system setups for those who have posted claiming they were banned unfairly. We've not found any situations that could produce a false positive, have found that the circumstances for which they were banned were clear and accurate, and we are extremely confident in our findings. Playing the game on Linux, although not officially supported, will not get you banned - cheating will."
