PSN-accounts worden SEN-accounts
Sony heeft laten weten dat ze de PlayStation Network-accounts gaan onderbrengen in een overkoepelend Sony Entertainment Network. Hiermee komt de naam PSN-account te vervallen en zal deze veranderen in een SEN-account.
De update zit al sinds 1 september 2011 in de pijpleiding en zal vanaf 8 februari 2012 definitief doorgevoerd worden. Sony heeft ondertussen een officieel bericht verstuurd naar haar gebruikers waarin ze uitlegt dat de verhuizing te maken heeft met een meer overkoepelend platform:
"The move incorporates a "comprehensive network platform" of services from Sony across games, movies, music and various media offerings"
"This transition is based on Sony's goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering. As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation Network will be aligned with Sony Entertainment Network."
"This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account."
Concreet houdt de wijziging, op de naamsverandering na, nog maar weinig in. De accounts zullen automatisch veranderd worden via de volgende PS3 en Vita firmware-update. De PSP blijft voorlopig gespaard van de verandering.
