Nether Realms zou graag meer crossovers zien in Mortal Kombat

Nether Realms, ontwikkelaar van Mortal Kombat, zou graag meer crossovers zien met hun game. Dat vertelde Ed Boon, bedenker van Mortal Kombat en de baas bij Nether Realms, onlangs in een interview met G4. Ze zouden graag een nieuwe "Mortal Kombat VS"-game maken, zoals Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe

Mortal Kombat is een lastige game om crossovers mee te maken, dankzij de gewelddadige stijl en de brute Fatalities. De meeste andere fighters hebben een T-rating, omdat ze zich inhouden met gewelddadige content. Daarom is het moeilijk de games "compitabel" met elkaar te maken.

“But we’ve all dreamt with crossing over with Street Fighter or Tekken. Killer Instinct was also one that was coming up since they were an M-rated game as well. But I’ll tell you that we’ve had many, many conversations along those lines,”

Ook vertelt hij dat de Fatalities het moeilijk maken om extra characters in de game te stoppen, zoals Kratos.

“The guys at Sony Santa Monica were as protective of Kratos as we are with our characters. At first, they were a little adverse to seeing fatalities performed on Kratos. But once they opened up to that idea, all of our characters certainly have that done on them, they were cool with it.”

“To me, it’d be cool to see other characters from other fighting games, Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter or someone from Tekken would be fun ones as well.”

Het is om bovenstaande redenen dus niet zo waarschijnlijk dat er nog characters uit andere games in Mortal Kombat zullen verschijnen.
