Origin verzamelt en deelt gegevens spelers

EA is druk bezig om, met het nodige ellenbogenwerk, Origin in de markt te zetten. De downloadservice moet direct concurreren met Steam van Valve. Het heeft al aardig wat kritiek te verduren gehad, waaronder het feit dat het nog uit te komen Battlefield 3 niet zonder Origin te spelen zal zijn.

Er is echter een kleine hetze ontstaan nu is gebleken dat Origin meer dan alleen je logingegevens verzamelt. Eén van de gebruikers heeft namelijk de Terms of Service gelezen, wat op zich al een prestatie is, maar heeft daarmee wel ontdekt dat Origin je computer doorzoekt, persoonlijke gegevens verzamelt en deze deelt met andere partijen. 

Veel gebruikers noemen de gang van zaken niets minder dan een vorm van spyware. Steam kan ook gegevens verzamelen, maar dit kun je weigeren. Als je het niet eens bent met Origins 'consent to collection and use of data', dan moet je volgens EA de applicatie niet installeren.

This and all other data provided to EA and/or collected by EA in connection with
your installation and use of this Application is collected, used, stored and
transmitted in accordance with EA's Privacy Policy located at www.ea.com. To
the extent that anything in this section conflicts with the terms of EA's Privacy
Policy, the terms of the Privacy Policy shall control.
