Vanwege de gevolgen van aardbeving en tsunami in Japan worden de servers van Final Fantasy XI en XIV tijdelijk uitgeschakeld zo is bekendgemaakt door het officiële Final Fantasy Twitter-account. De websites van de games blijven nog wel online en geven het laatste nieuws.

De Tokyo Electric Power Company vraagt klanten om zoveel mogelijk stroom te besparen om stroomtekorten te voorkomen. Al eerder haalde Konami de servers van Metal Gear Online uit de lucht om energie te besparen. Zodra de problemen met de stroomvoorziening zijn opgelost zullen de servers weer aangezet worden. Spelers hoeven het abonementsgeld van de gemiste tijd niet te betalen.
