True Crime: Hong Kong geannuleerd
Activision heeft bekendgemaakt dat de ontwikkeling van True Crime: Hong Kong is stopgezet. De game zou niet kunnen concurreren met andere free roaming-games. Het bedrijf heeft ook de ontwikkeling van Guitar Hero en DJ Hero stilgelegd.
"At the same time, due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011. The company also will stop development on True Crime: Hong Kong™. These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world's best interactive entertainment experiences." aldus Activision Blizzard in het jaaroverzicht.
De samenwerking tussen developer United Front Games, onder andere bekend van Modnation Racers, en Activision lijkt voorlopig tot een einde te komen. Er gaan geruchten dat United Front Games de deuren zou moeten sluiten, maar de Canadese developer heeft zelf een reactie gegeven waarin dit niet ter sprake komt:
"We are sorry we did not get a chance to complete this project with Activision, but we understand why. We are both committed to doing quality games and nothing less. Maybe we will have a chance to work together in the future, but in the meantime we are setting our creative sights on a different horizon.
