'De PlayStation 3 is gehackt'

Nadat wij eerder hadden vermeld dat George Hotz, onder andere bekend van zijn iPhone Jailbreak de PlayStation 3 probeert te hacken, is het volgens zijn eigen zeggen nu gelukt. Hij zegt op zijn blog dat hij het volgende heeft bereikt:

I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I've also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip.

3 years, 2 months, 11 days...thats a pretty secure system

Hij legt de hack niet op het internet uit, aangezien volgens hem Sony de hack onmogelijk kan maken via een firmware update. Of Sony hier ook echt wat tegen gaat doen is nog niet bekend.
