P13 van Salo wordt afgepakt

De 13e plaats die Mika Salo tijdens de GP van Hongarije heeft behaald, wordt van hem afgepakt. Hij is teruggezet naar de 15e plaats dankzij een tijdstraf van 25 seconden. Deze straf werd opgelegd vanwege de bijna-botsing met Pedro de la Rosa in de pits.

Volgens de FIA was dit een onveilige manoevre van de Fin na het aanhoren van de verhalen van beide teameigenaren (Toyota en Jaguar).

"The drivers of car numbers 24 and 17 (Pedro de la Rosa) and their team managers were summoned.
Having heard the explanations of the drivers and team managers, and having viewed a video of the incident, the Stewards of the Meeting decide to impose a penalty that adds 25 seconds to the elapsed time of driver car number 24, as set out in Article 55c of the 2002 FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.

This penalty will be reflected in the official race classification."

Salo was het echter niet met deze beslissing eens. "I drove a good race today and kept off some pressure towards the end, so I am not happy about losing 25 seconds for what I think was normal," aldus de Fin.
