Prince wil niet in Guitar Hero: "Ga maar echt gitaar spelen"

Sinds de lancering van Rock Band en Guitar Hero: World Tour is de concurrentie tussen de twee best hevig om wie de tofste muziek in zijn games krijgt. Waar Guitar Hero prat kan gaan op zijn uitgebreide collectie Metallica en vorig jaar Aerosmith heeft Rock Band natuurlijk The Beatles. Blijkbaar heeft Activision geprobeerd ook geprobeerd Prince in de game op te nemen. De artiest zelf zag daar geen heil in, want hij heeft het aanbod afgeslagen. Een opvallende keuze, want het is een goede mogelijkheid om een nieuw publiek te bereiken. De reden is dat Prince vindt dat het belangrijk is dat kinderen echt leren een instrument, in dit geval de gitaar, te bespelen.

Well, I ain't mad at them. I hear it made, like, $2 billion and they came to us and offered us a very small portion of that. But I just think it's more important that kids learn how to actually play the guitar. It's a tough instrument -- it's not easy. It took me a long time, and it was frustrating at first. And you just have to stick with it, and it's cool for people who don't have time to learn the chords or ain't interested in it, but to play music is one of the greatest things.
