Sony schrapt Eight Days en The Getaway

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe heeft bekend gemaakt dat ze gestopt is met de ontwikkeling van de PlayStation 3-games Eight Days en The Getaway. De reden was dat het bedrijf vond dat er al genoeg sterke games in ontwikkeling waren en dat er aandacht besteed moest worden aan games die dichter bij hun release lagen. De games worden niet in de koelkast gezet, ze zullen gewoon niet uitkomen.

It has been agreed that production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget.

This decision was made following an internal review of all games and it was deemed that with the incredibly strong list of exclusive first party titles coming up both this year and in the near future, resource should be reallocated to enhance those projects closer to completion.

Eight Days werd voor het eerst aangekondigd op de E3 van 2006 en was dus al flinke tijd in ontwikkeling. The Getaway was in veel minder verre staat van ontwikkeling, deze game zou pas aandacht krijgen na de lancering van Eight Days.
