Definitief geen cross-platform UTIII tussen PC en PS3

Epic heeft eindelijk de knoop doorgehakt: er komt geen cross-platform feature van Unreal Tournament III tussen de PC en de PlayStation 3. Dit betekent dat PS3-gamers en PC-gamers met een exemplaar van UTIII niet tegen elkaar kunnen spelen online. De ontwikkelaar sluit niet uit dat het in een later stadium als feature toegevoegd kan worden, maar ze acht de kans minimaal.

Mark Rein van Epic zei dat de grootste uitdaging in het goed verzorgen van een cross-platform feature de synchronisatie tussen beide versies is:

We looked at how this would impact our ability to respond quickly to things happening at internet speed on the PC side of the equation and realized that this would not be in the best interests of our very loyal PC userbase because we would constantly be holding on to updates to wait until they passed cert on the console platform.
