Irrational Games heet voortaan 2K Boston en 2K Australia

Uitgever 2K games heeft aangegeven dat ontwikkelaar Irrational Games een naamswijziging zal ondergaan. Het hoofdkantoor in Boston in Amerika zal voortaan door het leven gaan als 2K Boston en het kantoor in Canberra in Australië zal voortaan 2K Australia heten. Irrational werd bekend door vele games, waaronder System Shock 2, Freedom Force, Tribes: Vengeance, en SWAT 4. De naamswijziging is vooral symbolisch, het geeft de verdere integratie binnen 2K Games aan.
Christoph Hartmann, president van 2K Games, was in zijn sas met de naamswijziging:

"Irrational Games is widely recognized as one of the most innovative development studios in the world. Following their incredible efforts in bringing BioShock to life, we are proud to make the newly renamed Irrational Games studios a cornerstone of our game development family."

Sinds 2K Games in 2005 Irrational Games opgekocht heeft het bedrijf er flink in geïnvesteerd, dit zorgde dan ook dat Irrational flink kon groeien. In de afgelopen twee jaar is het bedrijf twee keer zo groot geworden.
Ken Levine, president en creative director van 2K Boston, is dan ook erg blij met de samenwerking:

"We’re proud to be part of the 2K Games family and enjoy the new opportunities and artistic freedoms this strengthened relationship provides. The name change signifies our growing position as a central part of 2K Games, and we plan to ensure our future titles continue to set new standards of quality and innovation for the industry."
