''FF VII Remake komt niet''

Sinds de E3 waarop onder andere de beruchte Killzone trailer voor de PS3 is getoond gaan er geruchten over een Final Fantasy VII remake voor diezelfde PS3. Deze ontstonden nadat Square-Enix een techdemo liet zien waarin ze beelden gebruikten die gebaseerd waren op de openingsscene van de originele Final Fantasy VII.

Helaas is op dit moment de game officieel niet in ontwikkeling volgens Tetsuya Nomura, karakterdesigner bij Square-Enix: It appears that there are often overseas rumors like "Are you currently developing a VII remake?" My apologies, but we're absolutely not making [such a game].

Voor iedereen die teleurgesteld is. Hopen mag altijd nog! Zeker als je leest wat Yoshinori Kitase, overall director van de FFVII-serie, vertelde: However, when we ask the staff who are making FFXIII why they entered the company, there are many people who say, 'I'm an FFVII fan, I also want to do a remake.'

Nomura voegde toe: We of course know ourselves what the fans want so we'd like to continue thinking up a variety of things. As long as there are people who want to make it and people who are waiting for it, we don't want to proclaim 'the end.'
