Uitslag Oscars 2003 (Live Updates)

Zojuist zijn de jaarlijke Oscar uitreikingen begonnen. In het Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles zal Steve Martin voor de tweede maal de show presenteren.

Eerder deze week werd bekend dat de uitreikingen soberder in beeld zouden worden gebracht vanwege de oorlog in Irak, ook lieten Tom Hanks en Will Smith weten dit jaar de Oscar uitreikingen te boycotten.

Favorieten dit jaar zijn de film Chicago, met maar liefst dertien nominaties, Gangs Of New York (tien nominaties), The Hours (negen nominaties) en Frida (zes nominaties). De Nederlandse film Zus & Zo is genomineerd in de categorie Beste Buitenlandse Film.

Verder kreeg Peter O'Toole een Oscar voor zijn gehele oeuvre. Hij acteerde in tientallen films de afgelopen veertig jaar.

Gedoodverfde favoriet Chicago wist zes Oscars te bemachtigen, waaronder de meest prestigieuze, die voor beste film. Gangs Of New York wist ondanks tien nominaties geen enkele Oscar binnen te halen, Frida ging er met twee beeldjes vandoor en The Pianist haalde drie van de zeven nominaties naar zich toe. Nederland kon met Zus & Zo helaas geen Oscar in de wacht slepen.
