District 9-regisseur wil Halo wel verfilmen

District 9-regisseur Neill Blomkamp heeft aangegeven wel interesse te hebben in de verfilming van Halo. De enige eis die hij heeft, is dat hij volledig 'creative control' mag hebben over het project. Blomkamp zegt gecharmeerd te zijn van de i-wereld, -universum en -mythologie.

Blomkamp geeft daarnaast aan dat dit ook een valkuil is. Iedereen, van gamers tot regisseurs tot de ontwikkelaars, hebben een bepaald beeld van de game. Het is lastig om dan een film te maken waarin je probeert te voldoen aan ieders eisen. 

“I still really love the world and the universe and the mythology of Halo. If I was given control, I would really like to do that film. But that’s the problem. When something pre-exists, there’s this idea of my own interpretation versus 150 other people involved with the film’s interpretation of the same intellectual property. Then the entire filmgoing audience has their interpretation. You can really live up to or fail in their eyes. That part isn’t appealing to me, but the original pieces are appealing.”
